About 70 percent of smokers want to quit. When you use coaching and nicotine replacement therapy, your chances are double what they would be without assistance. Without assistance, only about 5 percent remain tobacco free for 3-12 months.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends some key components for a successful tobacco cessation program. These components include:
- Provide for at least four counseling sessions.
- Coverage of FDA approved prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
- Coverage of two quit attempts per year.
The State of Ohio Take Charge! Live Well! program offers access to unlimited online and phone coaching at no cost to you. As of July 1, 2012, prescriptions and most over-the-counter products are available to you at no additional cost if you are actively working with a Healthways health coach. To enroll in health coaching, call 1.866.556.2288.
In addition, participants now have access to QuitNet®, the industry's leading tobacco cessation program.
With QuitNet® you will have access to:
- A Personalized Quit Guide
- Tracking tools
- Daily emails (member opt-in required)
- Certificates of Achievement
- Expert advice from trained online counselors
- Unlimited access to member forums and online chat features
If you decide not to work with a health coach, these tobacco cessation products will be available to you at the normal copay amount.
3If you are prescribed Chantix, then you, your pharmacist or your prescriber can initiate and request a Prior Authorization by calling Catalyst Rx at 1-866-854-8850. Catalyst Rx will contact your prescriber and request the information necessary for the medication to be covered. Please note that if your Prior Authorization request is not approved, your medication will not qualify for coverage through your prescription benefit program and you will be responsible for the full cost of this medication at the pharmacy.
